Hawaii jazz ukulele legend Benny Chong will perform Friday, July 13 at 7 p.m. at the Banyan Drive Café in Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel.

Hawaii jazz ukulele legend Benny Chong will perform Friday, July 13 at 7 p.m. at the Banyan Drive Café in Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel.

Chong won the 2012 Na Hoku Hanohano award for Jazz Album of the Year for his CD “Ukulele Jazz: Live in Concert at Hilo, Hawaii.” He is also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award Hoku from the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts. Chong was also a founding member of The Aliis and was musical director for Don Ho for more than two decades.

Performing with Chong will be Gary Washburn at the keyboards and Brian McCree on bass.
